RHDV Requirements

To ensure the safety and well-being of all rabbits in our care, we require vaccination against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Virus Disease (RHDV2) at least 21 days prior to using our services. Rabbits boarding with Binkies Inn must meet specific vaccination criteria. For those using the Filavac or Eravac vaccine, a valid single-dose vaccination certificate is required. If your rabbit is vaccinated with the Medgene vaccine, certificates showing both doses are mandatory unless the rabbit is within the one-year expiration period, in which case a single booster dose is sufficient. If the Medgene vaccine has expired, a new two-dose series must be completed.

Additionally, a current vaccination certificate and a clear bill of health from your veterinarian, dated within the last year, must be submitted via email to binkiesinn@gmail.com at least 2 weeks before your first day of boarding. Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions to these requirements. For more information on your small pets specific health needs, please consult your local house society or veterinarian. Trusted organizations like the San Diego House Rabbit Society and Wee Companions are invaluable resources in helping you provide the best care for your beloved pet.

Health Requirements

At Binkies, the health and safety of your pets and the animals in our care are our top priority. To maintain a clean and safe environment, we require a clear bill of health from a licensed veterinarian for all pets before any service can be provided. Your pet must also have been kept indoors only, with no outdoor playtime, for a minimum of 30 days prior to using our services. Outdoor policy can change depending on the service that is being provided. This policy helps prevent the spread of diseases, particularly among animals of the same species. For rabbits, we require proof of up-to-date vaccinations, including the RHDV vaccine. Other pets may have additional health requirements based on their species and local guidelines.

The veterinarian's health form must be no older than one year, with renewed forms required every year to align with your pet's annual checkup schedule. Please email the completed health forms to binkiesinn@gmail.com prior to scheduling any services. Unfortunately, we cannot provide services to pets that do not meet these requirements. By adhering to these guidelines, we aim to uphold the highest health standards and provide a safe, enriching environment for your beloved small pets. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our furry and feathered friends healthy and happy.

Team Requirements

Our team is committed to maintaining rigorous cleanliness standards in all aspects of our care. Binkies ensures that waste is disposed of properly, and all equipment and tools used during services are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Understanding the unique sensitivities of small pets, we take additional steps to minimize stress and prevent cross-contamination. Many small pets are known for their keen sense of smell and strong sense of loyalty because of this some can become distressed by unfamiliar scents. To address this, I personally change clothes after completing each service to avoid upsetting my own pets, ensuring they feel secure and valued.

In some cases, we may also wear protective gowns or bring a change of clothes between services, depending on the needs of the pets in our care. These precautions further reflect our commitment to your pet’s health and well-being. By prioritizing cleanliness, minimizing stressors, and maintaining strict health protocols, we strive to provide a safe, supportive, and comfortable experience for every animal we serve.
